Responsibilities
This role requires an experienced Senior Cloud Consultant with strong working experience across VMware, KVM, enterprise storage, disaster recovery and backup technologies.
The successful candidate will work with Professional Services, Cloud Operations, Project Management and Service Delivery teams to deliver customer projects and maintain cloud platform services across multiple datacentres.
The role involves implementation, upgrade and support of VMware-based cloud infrastructure together with enterprise SAN, Zerto disaster recovery and Veeam Backup & Replication platforms.
The role also includes contributing to the design and solution architecture of customer cloud environments, translating customer requirements into secure, scalable and supportable infrastructure designs that align with operational standards, resilience requirements and managed service delivery models.
Expectations From The Role:
Tasks will involve:
Design, install, configure VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi, vCenter and vSAN.
Design, install, configure KVM based environments, including Proxmox, HVM, etc.
Deliver VMware upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes and platform enhancement activities.
Configure and support enterprise SAN technologies, including Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage environments.
Assist with storage presentation, multipathing, zoning, datastore configuration and capacity management.
Implement and support Zerto disaster recovery solutions.
Perform disaster recovery testing, recovery validation and technical documentation.
Implement, configure and support Veeam Backup & Replication solutions.
Assist with backup job configuration, repository management, recovery testing and backup troubleshooting.
Support customer infrastructure upgrades, migrations and remediation activities.
Support the design of customer cloud and infrastructure solutions, including high-level designs, low-level designs, bill of materials input, migration approaches and implementation planning.
Assess customer requirements and propose appropriate virtualisation, storage, backup and disaster recovery architectures that are secure, resilient and operationally supportable.
Work with alternative hypervisor platforms such as KVM and Proxmox VE where required, particularly in customer migration, platform assessment or VMware diversification scenarios.
Produce technical documentation, implementation plans, test plans and operational handover material.
Work alongside project managers and service delivery teams during customer implementations.
Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and service requests.

Skills and experience
Minimum 6 years experience in a hands-on infrastructure, cloud or virtualisation engineering role.
Strong experience deploying, upgrading and supporting VMware vSphere environments.
Good troubleshooting skills, following a logical and systematic approach to identify symptoms, eliminate causes, diagnose root cause and provide resolution.
Experience delivering technical implementation work for customer projects or managed service environments.
Experience supporting the design or architecture of customer infrastructure environments, including compute, storage, networking, backup and disaster recovery considerations.
Understanding of alternative virtualisation platforms such as KVM, Proxmox VE or similar hypervisors, with the ability to assess their suitability in customer environments.
Working knowledge of the following:
VMware vSphere, VMware ESXi, vCenter Server and vSAN.
KVM hypervisor solutions such as Proxmox, HVM, etc.
Enterprise storage and SAN concepts, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, zoning, multipathing, LUN presentation and datastore management.
Disaster recovery technologies, including Zerto implementation, testing and operational support.
Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup jobs, repositories, proxies, restores and recovery testing.
Preferred:
VMware VCP certification or equivalent experience.
Veeam VMCE certification or equivalent experience.
Zerto certification or demonstrable implementation experience.
Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent industry experience.
A high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
